Chariots of the Gods by Erich Von Daniken

Chariots of the Gods? Is a 'non fiction' book written by Erich Von Daniken which was first published in 1968 at the peak of man kinds interest in space travel. It was put out through Bantam Books and examines the possibilities that humans have been visited by aliens in the past and more significantly that those interactions have left behind signs.

 

I believe in Ancient Alien Theory. I find the book Chariots of the Gods fascinating, it was a book that I read first years ago and the ideas have stuck with me over that entire time. What is Ancient Alien Theory? The theory there is proof in hieroglyphs, cave paintings and even written records that humans were visited by alien creatures in the past. He even suggests that many of the gods of ancient religions, and possibly even God could have been a space traveler. This is a bit far for me but the idea is still interesting.

At the core of this book is the same question that they ask at Seti, and even in some ways in most churches. That question is are we alone. Is the universe filled with life, are there people looking out for us or is this a cold universe with a single flickering candle that is life on earth with the rest remaining dark.

What makes this book so different than many of the others is that it goes through and discusses and looks at the images of ancient civilizations often putting them next to the modern images of astronauts or others and showing that there really are some interesting similarities.

Erich Von Daniken visited the Nazca Lines in Peru, and noticed how the Nazca Lines may have been created as a way to communicate with Ancient Aliens.  The Nazca Lines are only visible from the air or by flight.
The name itself Chariots of the gods comes from a biblical story in which the chariot of God came out of the sky and took Elijah into heaven. It seems clear in this story that the chariot is a metaphor for something more spectacular and the author of this book suggests that the fire could have been the fire from the rockets of a ship.

Ancient Astronaut Hypothesis

Ancient Aliens first came to Earth many millennia ago. They were beings whose biology was similar to modern humans. They created modern mankind by mixing their genetic makeup with that of sub-humans.  Example: The Anunnaki. The purpose of mankind was to serve the AAs, principally by providing food and mining and construction labor. The AAs did not allow humans to view them – only their symbols (idols), suggesting that their appearance was frightening; however humans were occasionally permitted to see their emissaries, e.g. "geniuses" and "angels". They also would not allow humans near them, except priests who had cleansed and covered themselves and spread a germicide, suggesting their susceptibility to earthly diseases. They apparently moved about the Earth in spacecraft using chemical fuel, and only landed on mountaintops or other rocky outcroppings; this reduced the dust and provided physical protection from humans, and disease control.  Examples of possible "Ancient Alien Airstrips" would be the Nazca Lines.  The earliest sites had a cave under the rock that protected the priests during the coming and going of the spacecraft. Later they built, or provided humans with tools to build, cyclopean structures – huge earthen, baked brick, or stone ceremonial platforms and pyramids, which served as landmarks and as landing and feeding sites. Since they had little defense against earthly bacteria, they developed methods to nourish themselves with the vapors emanating from food and drink which humans provided and burned for them. The food and drink was provided through the custom of sacrifice, the burning of the meat and blood of animals, and sometimes humans, which the AAs demanded. These ceremonial and feeding sites were located all over the world, most on or near the current equator or near earlier pole-shifted equators. They taught humans agriculture, astronomy, engineering, and provided the first laws. They then departed from the face of Mankind. Is this possible? Seems possible to me.  http://alienswerehere.com/

Ancient Alien Theory - Aliens Were Here View

The fact is: the evolution of human civilization and higher learning still remains a mystery to mankind. More and more evidence shows that ancient civilizations had an amazing understanding of Astronomy, Science and Math that in some cases rivals today's cultures. But at the same time these ancient civilizations were supposed to be one step out of the stone age? These ancient civilizations built huge structures that have stood the test of time... and even with today's technology and machinery would be hard to duplicate. How did they do this? Why did they feel it was so important for future generations to see their work? Looking at historic accounts from the Hopi Indians, Egyptians, Maya, Aztec, and many other ancient civilizations, they all mention strange phenomenons that came from the sky like our modern day UFOs. Most of these ancient civilizations had beliefs in "gods" that interacted with or created them. These "gods" in most cases were from the stars or sky. These "gods" would teach them, guide them, and rule over them with supernatural powers. Some people today regard these beliefs, held by these ancient civilizations, as just simply myths or legends. But what if these so called "gods" were actually extraterrestrials or aliens from elsewhere in the universe?  Example: Anunnaki   What if the aliens were from a much more technologically advanced and older culture than the humans? If this were true.. is it possible the "supernatural powers" were merely the interpretation of advanced technology? Wouldn't this also help explain the advancements in education and technology required to build these amazing structures built by ancient civilizations? This theory does help explain the evolution of human civilization and higher learning.

Today, sites like the Nazca lines, Egyptian Pyramids, and Mayan Pyramids all point to the existence of Ancient Aliens.  We are beginning the "Golden Age" of space exploration. As we learn about the Universe.. given the sheer size, mass, and time... more and more Scientists agree evidence points to the concept that life exists elsewhere. Maybe the answer to our future is opening our minds to the possibilities of our past.
